The food in this place is so delicious that it is soul stirring.

This treasure land on the border should not be forgotten~

Dehong Prefecture, located in Southwest Yunnan, is not a traditional popular travel destination. Due to its border location, few tourists have been able to set foot in it since the outbreak. Some time ago, reports that Ruili, a border city, was closed for nine times in two years, and no case spread to other provinces once brushed the screen, which made people all over the country distressed and sad.

Mangshi, Ruili, Wanding… Behind these beautiful names, there are equally beautiful tropical scenery, strong ethnic customs, enthusiastic people, and amazing taste on the tongue. Today, LP will take you on a tour of Dehong. Let us look forward to seeing the Shwedagon Pagoda and eating Pao Luda together after the epidemic is over~

Besides, tourists from Chengdu come here! Don’t want to go out of town but want to have a good place this weekend too? Today’s second article has the special early bird tickets for Chengdu’s annual blockbuster exhibition that LP has won for you! The original and authentic exhibition of masters such as Monet, Manet, and Ukiyo-e Sanji is waiting for you to check in!

Dehong

Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture has strong ethnic customs. The temples and pagodas of Theravada (that is, Southern Buddhism, folk or “Mahayana Buddhism”) are all over the urban villages. The signs of green leaf feast are everywhere. Burmese people who do not know the language are smiling at you with Turner cards painted on them. There are also numerous national festivals that are very lively – you can go to the streets to feel the joy of splashing water, dance with your graceful posture, or drink wine freely, and immerse yourself in enthusiasm and joy.

Dehong Prefecture · Mangshi

As the prefecture of Dehong, Mangshi was still called “Luxi” before 2010, and some information may have to be searched by this name. “Menghuan” is its Dai language name, meaning “the place where the sky just dawns”, so Mangshi also has the title of “city of dawn”.

As soon as you enter Mangshi, the taste of the Dai family is revealed. Walking on the street, people are often amazed by its “foreign style”: one side is the poluda and chicken feet under the osmanthus tree, the other side is cheese cake and juice under the umbrella; , on one side is a row of coconut trees next to the street, and the newly built Dai-style town sings and dances every night…

You may be able to visit all the scenic spots in the city in one day, but you can stay for a few more days before you have the opportunity to experience its leisurely, taste more of its delicacies, and discover the scenery and customs of the surrounding mountains and villages. This well-organized city is so small that everything in the city is within walking distance.

Menghuan Shwedagon Pagoda

This is the most dazzling building in Mangshi. From the top of the tower, you can overlook the panorama of Mangshi and Myanmar. At the foot of the mountain is a memorial tower of the Anti-Japanese War in western Yunnan. Before entering the Panshan Highway, there is a fork leading to Peacock Lake. This artificial reservoir has an open lake and beautiful scenery.

Another silver pagoda is located on the top of the hill opposite the Shwedagon Pagoda. Locals like to go for a walk in the morning and evening to the Golden Pagoda and the lake. It takes about 20 minutes to go up the hiking trail from the foot of the mountain, or you can take a taxi directly to the main entrance of the Golden Pagoda.

Pagoda wrapped by the tree

Its official name is “iron city pagoda”, which is located in the old city during the chieftain era. After 200 years of growth, a banyan seed that accidentally fell into the pagoda finally wrapped the pagoda. Under the tower are freshly burned incense candles, and wax oil coagulated by drops hangs on the head of the divine beast. Human faith and natural forces blend here.

Within a ten minute walk to the East, there are several Buddhist Temples: Bodhi temple is adjacent to Guanyin temple, both of which are influenced by the Han area, and the incense is very popular. At the intersection of the latter, there is a shrine dedicated to the God of wealth under the banyan tree, and the incense is not inferior to the tree pagoda; Wuyun temple is a typical Nanzhuan Theravada Buddhist temple, which retains Dai style wells and ancient stages. Dai operas are performed during festivals; Foguang temple is only open for religious festivals, next to the snack street.

Mengbanaxi

This tropical Park, which covers an area of more than 500 mu, is located in the south of the city. It is a leisure place close to plants, with trees and plants, peacocks walking around. What is most worth seeing in the park is the Shuhua jade exhibition hall, which displays various “trees” that have experienced long-term geological processes.

Heihe Laopo

This meadow hillside is a good place for outing and camping. You have to climb a 6-kilometer plank road up the mountain. You can enjoy the scenery of alpine meadows and virgin forests along the way. Summer is the best season, when the mountains are full of flowers and cattle and sheep are in flocks. Camping has the chance to see alpine sunsets and wonderland-like morning clouds. Tents can be rented on the mountain.

Business frontier · Ruili

Ruili, a city full of stones and neon lights, is restless with the dream of gold mining. There are jade shops, large and small, “gambling stone” signs, jade merchants with local accents and Burmese who come to work to improve their lives.

The old streets and alleys in the city are undergoing transformation, and the villages and fields near the city are also slowly disappearing. The construction of golden temples and pagodas has stalled after half a year, and the whole city seems to be struggling to move forward with the pull of moving forward and staying.

Fortunately, the Jingpo children are still singing hymns under the banyan trees, the Dai Township in the distance is still charming, the rain forest waterfalls are still falling, and the country is always bustling.

The largest port in Ruili is only 6 kilometers away from the south of the city. If you don’t leave the country, all you can do is take a picture in front of the country. There is a small jewelry market near the port every morning. Many people like to go to duty-free shops to buy cheap cigarettes (smoking is harmful to health).

From Ruili to Wanting

A number of scenic spots are linked from Ruili to Wanding, all of which will take about one day. Except for the Murray rainforest, other scenic spots are on the roadside, so you can take the shuttle bus all the way.

Celejin pagoda

It is surrounded by trees. On the broad tower base, 16 small towers surround the central main tower. Buddhist statues in yellow cassocks welcome the worshippers from China and Myanmar, accompanied by the powerful beasts of Southern Buddhism and the free peacocks. It is said that the Buddha statue was first built in the mengmao Kingdom and has a history of more than 600 years.

This is the belief center in the surrounding area. Whenever there is a Buddhist event, the surrounding villages and even the Dai people in Myanmar gather here to worship the Buddha barefoot. During the water splashing Festival, there will be a three-day Buddhist meeting. There is a swimming pool in the reservoir 1km to the north of Jinta.

The golden pagoda is about 5 kilometers away from the city. You can easily go there by bike. You need to walk 700 meters to Ruili avenue for the return journey. On the way from the elder sister lejin pagoda to wanting, I will pass by mangling village. A huge banyan tree has many air roots hanging down and looks like a forest.

Moli Rainforest

This is the only 4A level scenic spot in Ruili, with a trickle of streams flowing through the lush subtropical forest. The trail goes up along the stream. The trees above block out the sun. The road under your feet is wet. All kinds of vines cross the trail. The fallen tree trunks are wet as if they had just been fished out of the water.

It takes about half an hour to walk. On the way, you pass a small temple and trees and stones, and the end point is Zaduo Waterfall (also known as Murray waterfall) which is more than 30 meters high. Next to the parking lot, there are two hot spring swimming pools, one large and one small. The water is clear, and there is no extra charge. Take the bus to the operating area of Wanding, get off at the fork in the west of wandui bridge, and then walk 5.5 kilometers along the riverside highway, of which more than 1 kilometer is the way up the mountain.

Wanding

Wanding was once one of the most important ports in Southwest China. It witnessed the presence of the expeditionary force in the “World War II”, the blood of Nanyang machinists, and the intersection of Yunnan Burma highway and Stilwell highway. Now, the main transportation and border trade ports between China and Myanmar have been transferred to Jiegao, and wanting has become more comfortable.

A small river has become a natural border, with Wanding on one side and Kugu in Myanmar on the other. The legal crossing is Wanding Bridge, and the old bridge with steel structure and wooden deck next to it is the old remnant of the Burma Highway.

Wanding Bianguan Cultural Park is only more than 100 meters away from Wanding Bridge, and it will pass first when going to the bridge. Dozens of “World War II” jeeps, motorcycles and other antique cars in the Antique Car Museum and the swords of various ethnic groups in the National Ancient Weapons Museum can still be seen. The ticket window is located in the antique car hall. After purchasing the ticket, a staff will guide you to each hall and open the door.

Wanding China-Myanmar Friendship Memorial Hall (free, often closed) has a graphic exhibition on China-Myanmar diplomatic relations. The Nanyang Machine Works Monument aims to commemorate the more than 3,200 Nanyang overseas Chinese mechanics (drivers and car repairers) who returned to China to serve the Anti-Japanese War in 1938. At that time, Guangzhou fell, and the international aid materials to China depended on Wanding for inbound transportation.

Next to the monument, you can overlook the cityscape of Wanding and Kutani, the largest building in the latter being the casino. Going up from the monument is Wanding National Forest Park. There are Wanfo Temple on the front mountain of the park, forests and lakes on the back mountain, and migratory birds can be seen in winter.

From Ruili to Nongdao

It is an idyllic road from Ruili to Nongdao. The Ruili River is on your south side. Along the way, there are Dai villages in China and Myanmar. Tibetan Buddhist pagodas come into view one after another. Banana fields and Phoenix Tail Bamboo pass by one after another. Take bus No.1 at the bus station square next to Ruili passenger transport south station to the scenic spots such as shoushazang house, yizhai two countries and Dadonghu. Most of the elderly people in the village can only speak Dai. If you want to explore folk customs, you may need to bring an interpreter. The water sprinkling festival in the village is more simple and natural, which is obviously much more interesting than Ruili City.

Hansha kyaung

Hansha kyaung is the most magnificent Tibetan room in Ruili. It is 7 kilometers away from the urban area. Get off at the entrance of the Shousha village and walk 3 minutes to the top of the magnificent pagoda. There are inheritors of Peacock Dance living in the stockade. If you are lucky, you can see the most authentic Dai Peacock dance.

One Village and Two Countries

One village and two countries of yinjingzhai are 11 kilometers away from the urban area, and the biggest selling point is the China Myanmar border crossing the village. In the Dai style buildings near the lotus pond, there are Budao women (long necked people) with golden collars around their necks who demonstrate weaving techniques, sell fabrics, or take group photos with visitors.

You can overlook the stockade by climbing the mangxiu pagoda at the end of the lotus pond. If you do not enter the scenic spot, you can also go directly to the national gate and stand beside the border armed police to have a look at boundary monument 71 and the border people.

Dadenghan Village

Daliang village is 20 kilometers away from Ruili and is known as “Dai rural Park”. In fact, it is a Dai village with several Tibetan houses during the reign of Qianlong. In the early years, the films Princess peacock and huluxin were filmed here.

Nongdao town

Continue eastward to Nongdao town. Two kilometers to the west of the town is the site of Leiyun aircraft factory during the Anti Japanese War, which is now a debris wall. Nongdao is close to the border, opposite Shan and Kachin states of Myanmar.

Fancy food

Dehong’s food is represented by Dai Flavor. Dai tastes sour, bitter and spicy, and likes to eat raw and cold food. Besides Dai cuisine, Dehong Dai cuisine also integrates the dishes of Jingpo, Achang and other ethnic groups. It is more spicy, and has a preference for fragrant grass, Burmese Daphne and other heavy spices. You can taste several tastes of sour, sweet, bitter and spicy in a Jingpo hand-held rice.

Sapie

To put it simply, sashimi is cold and fine rice noodles dipped in seasonings. The finer the rice noodles, the better. Shred vegetables, beef, tripe and other thin slices. It may not seem surprising, but it is a famous snack of the Dai family. They can be seen everywhere in Dehong Prefecture, and the secret lies in dipping in water.

There are two main types of sashimi: lemon sacrifice and bitter sacrifice, and there are also other styles. As the name suggests, lemon sprinkles are made with lime juice as the main ingredient, and mixed with coriander, millet spicy and other spices to prepare water, which tastes sour, spicy and refreshing; bitter sprinkles are much more vigorous. Eyes, it tastes slightly bitter and sweet, cool and delicious.

Paoluda

Paluda, a coconut milk dessert from Myanmar, is actually sago coconut milk and dried bread.

There are beautiful tropical scenery, rich ethnic customs, enthusiastic people and the taste of the tongue. What kind of story do you have with here? Come to the comment area and share with us~
