Plant a “coral tree” on the seabed

There are some strange shelves on the bottom, covered with coral, and two heavily armed divers will occasionally dive in to observe them and adjust their positions. This isn’t some fancy artistic creation, it’s coral farming.

Coral reefs are marine structures formed by thousands of corals over thousands of years. They provide habitats for many marine animals and plants, support more than a quarter of marine species, and are very important ecological resources.

However, due to climate change and marine pollution, more than half of the coral reefs in the world have been seriously degraded, and once the coral reefs are degraded, it will become more and more difficult to reproduce corals naturally.

Therefore, some countries have established artificial coral farming near the degraded coral reefs. field.

These “coral trees” can help the coral to buffer the force of the waves, and at the same time keep the coral away from natural enemies such as crabs and starfish to a certain extent, and accelerate the growth of the coral.

After several months of nurturing, corals grow to 10-20 cm and are transplanted to the reef to be restored, increasing the number of corals in the area.
