The 3 most common mistakes in buying cooking oil

Oil is the soul of Chinese food. It can make food crisp, smell fragrant and bright in color. Moreover, oil is also an important source of nutrients. It can provide some essential fatty acids that the human body cannot synthesize. However, if the oil is used incorrectly, it is very detrimental to health.

Therefore, these oil misunderstandings must be avoided.

Three misunderstandings about buying oil

1.Buy the same oil for a long time

It is said that a certain oil is very good, so I will eat this oil exclusively, and not eat others!

Stop! stop! stop! This kind of thinking is unacceptable absolutely.

Because different types of edible oils contain different fatty acids, just like other foods, they have different nutrients. Therefore, if you buy the same oil every time, it is not reasonable from a nutritional point of view.

2.Buy big barrels of oil

Many people are accustomed to buying large barrels of oil. First, it takes a long time to eat. Second, the price is more affordable.

Although it seems that there are many benefits on the surface, in fact, there is no benefit to health.

You should know that although edible oil generally has a shelf life of 18 months, once it is opened, its oxidation reaction will be accelerated, and over time, it will be prone to scent, and even breed some microorganisms.

In particular, some families put cooking oil next to heat sources such as induction cookers, and the oxidation rate is faster.

Generally speaking, it is more appropriate to consume the oil after opening within 1 to 2 months, and it should be kept in a cool and dark place.

Therefore, for the average family, it is more recommended to buy small bottles of cooking oil.

3.Don’t look at the ingredient list

Looking at the ingredient list is very necessary for buying blended oil.

According to the national standard GB 7718-2011, various ingredients should be arranged one by one in descending order of the added amount. Generally speaking, the higher the ranking in the ingredient list, the more content.

For example, when buying olive blended oil, although the word “olive” on the trademark is very eye-catching, olive oil may be ranked last in the ingredient list, which means that this blended oil contains the lowest olive oil.

If you don’t look at the ingredient list and buy such oil home, you may not get the taste you want after spending a lot of money.

In addition, many people will ignore the shelf life and production date when buying oil. The shelf life of oil is generally 18 months. In order to avoid buying it back and eating it, it will expire. It is recommended to choose the oil closest to the production date.

Oil guide

1.Don’t “add oil”

As a pure energy food, excessive use of edible oil will bring certain negative effects to the human body. Therefore, it is best to limit household cooking oil to 25~30 grams per person per day (that is, about 3 tablespoons of household spoons).

Like parents who have been used to eating sesame oil for decades, they feel that the taste is not strong enough after mixing vegetables with olive oil, and then drips sesame oil. But this is likely to make the amount of oil used in a day exceed the standard, and only one kind of oil can be used for mixing vegetables.

2.Don’t “pour oil in a hurry”

When cooking, do not pour the oil first and then start the fire, wait until the oil pan smokes before starting cooking. When the oil pan is smoking, the temperature of the oil is often above 200°C. If the vegetables are put into the pan at this time, the carcinogens produced will increase the risk of cancer.

In addition, many nutrients in vegetables are also destroyed.

The correct way is to heat the pot first, and then pour the oil, then you can stir-fry to avoid nutrient loss and carcinogens.

3.Don’t “use blended oil blindly”

Blended oil is an edible oil prepared by mixing two or more refined fats and oils in a specific ratio.

It is generally believed that olive oil, peanut oil, corn germ oil, sunflower oil, and camellia oil have high nutritional value and have certain health effects on the human body.

But there are some, which are flavor-type blending oils, the main body is still common oils such as soybean oil, only a little extra sesame oil or peanut oil is added to improve the flavor.

If you only focus on this kind of oil, you will actually not achieve a balanced intake of fatty acids.
