Should acne avoid food after all?

Many friends hope to have smooth and beautiful skin, but they are ruthlessly defeated by acne. In order to control acne on the face, they do not hesitate to control their diet strictly.

There are many sayings about the dietary taboos of acne: if you have acne, you can’t eat spicy food, can’t eat sweets, and some people even say that you can’t eat meat and only be vegetarian…

What kind of food can induce and aggravate acne? Can’t you eat sweets if you have acne?

Before answering this question, let’s take a look at the causes of acne.

Why do you get acne?

Acne, medically called “acne”, is an inflammatory disease that occurs in the sebaceous glands of hair follicles and affects more than 80% of adolescents.

The main causes of acne include: hormone-induced excessive sebum secretion, abnormal hair follicle sebaceous gland duct keratosis, proliferation of Propionibacterium acnes, inflammatory response and immune response.

Factors such as diet, environment, skin care, and spirit also play a role.

Paying attention to the adjustment of daily life and eating habits can help improve the condition of acne and avoid recurrence.

I have acne, I really need to eat less of these foods

Studies so far have found that high-sugar diets, dairy products, and high-fat diets are all related to acne.

➊ High-sugar diet

High-sugar foods, such as certain cakes, milk tea, etc., can cause blood sugar to rise.

In order to lower blood sugar, the pancreatic islets secrete a large amount of insulin, and the corresponding insulin-like growth factor secretion will increase. This may lead to hyperkeratosis of the hair follicles and sebaceous glands, the sebaceous glands secrete more oil, and promote the occurrence of acne.

A low-sugar diet will improve insulin sensitivity and further improve acne lesions.

What should I do if I want to drink a drink? Drink green tea! Green tea has a high content of polyphenols, which can suppress blood sugar after a meal.

➋ Milk products

First of all, a variety of hormones contained in milk may be related to the occurrence of acne.

Secondly, certain factors in milk (especially skimmed and low-fat milk) will increase the secretion of insulin and further cause acne.

In addition, a number of domestic and foreign studies have confirmed that milk can aggravate acne.

If you want to drink milk, you can consider sugar-free yogurt. If you must drink pure milk, you can consider whole milk, and the daily intake should not exceed 700ml.

➌ High-fat diet

The triglycerides contained in fried foods can release saturated fatty acids under the action of Propionibacterium acnes, promote hair follicle keratosis, and induce acne.

After reducing the replacement of greasy food, acne can be improved to a certain extent.

➍ Spicy and stimulating food

When it comes to dietary control of acne, people often think of eating less spicy food.

However, studies over the years have shown that spicy and irritating foods have no definitive evidence to support the occurrence and aggravation of acne, and the relationship between the two may not be large.

After you eat spicy food, if you find that the acne is aggravated, then avoid it; if it doesn’t worsen, you don’t need to avoid it deliberately.

➎ Other food

There are also some foods that people with acne should also consume in moderation.

For example, beef and mutton (because beef and mutton contains high palmitic acid, which can cause inflammation), rice and other staple foods (more carbon water), coffee (drink less Italian, you can consume American style without milk) and so on.

Eating seafood is good for acne recovery?

Fish and seafood contain more unsaturated fatty acids, which can inhibit the release of pro-inflammatory factors, inhibit hair follicle mouth keratosis, and reduce the incidence of acne.

Foods rich in vitamin A (such as carrots, broccoli, cantaloupe, etc.) and foods rich in zinc (such as shelled seafood, nuts, animal organs, etc.) can also improve acne.

It should be noted that paying attention to diet is only an aid.

If you want to get effective treatment, you should go to the dermatology department of a regular hospital and let the doctor make a specific plan according to the specific situation.
