I only learned today that these “traps” are hidden on food packaging, and many people are still kept in the dark…

No matter what kind of food is purchased, the “food label” will be printed on the packaging bag.

There are a lot of information on the label, such as the production date, shelf life, and ingredient list, nutritional content list, name category, producer information, and so on that most people care about.

In fact, there are “traps” hidden in the words behind the packaging bags that many businesses will not tell you. Many friends have paid IQ taxes!

Refuse to buy “gimmick food” and avoid stepping on pits. Please read this article carefully.

Does high-calcium milk really supplement calcium?

Most people think that “high-calcium milk is more calcium supplement”, but in fact this is just a misunderstanding.

The so-called “high-calcium milk” is “milk with higher calcium content” actually.

How to make the calcium content higher? In the production process, some extra calcium is added artificially. In fact, it should be called “calcium-fortified milk”. Among them, calcium carbonate, calcium lactate, calcium phosphate, calcium citrate and other calcium-containing substances can be added as calcium agents, and calcium carbonate and calcium lactate are commonly used.

Adding extra calcium to milk is itself a restricted thing:

Adding a large amount of calcium to milk is not technically difficult to achieve by itself;

It is easy to destroy the stable protein system, and even cause problems such as precipitation and emulsification;

It will also affect the taste and sterilization stability of milk.

In addition, from the perspective of absorption, high-calcium milk is not a “satisfying choice.”

Milk itself is a “high calcium food”, and its calcium absorption rate is very high. Due to the cost, most of the calcium added in high-calcium milk is calcium carbonate, but its absorption effect in the body is very unsatisfactory.

From a scientific point of view, “high-calcium milk” is actually just a “gimmick selling point for merchants”. The calcium content in it is not much different from ordinary milk, and the absorption rate is not satisfactory. You don’t need to blindly follow “high-end health”, only appropriate supplementation is “high quality”.

Can lactic acid bacteria drink replace yogurt?

There are different varieties of dairy foods on the dairy shelves of supermarkets. When everyone sees “lactic acid bacteria drinks”, they always think it is healthier, and some people misunderstand that it is yogurt.

However, lactic acid bacteria drinks are not as luxurious as everyone thinks.

1. Lactobacillus beverages are just one of the “milk-containing beverages”

Refers to milk or dairy products as raw materials, the emulsion prepared by lactic acid bacteria fermentation, adding water, and one or more of white sugar and (or) sweetener, sour agent, fruit juice, tea and other ingredients drink.

The essence of milk beverages is just a “drink”, which is not the same as real dairy foods such as milk and yogurt.

The national standard clearly stipulates that the protein content in pure milk needs to be ≥2.9%, while the protein content in milk beverages only needs to be ≥1%. The nutrient content varies greatly; not to mention that lactic acid bacteria beverages contain more added sugars. Ingestion will increase the body’s risk of dental caries, obesity, diabetes and other diseases.

2. The “attractive” substance in lactic acid bacteria drinks-probiotics

The microorganisms in lactic acid bacteria beverages that can really promote human intestinal health (regulate immune response, etc.) are called probiotics.

However, many merchants actually play a “side ball” in product promotion. They usually claim that the products they sell contain “active lactic acid bacteria” and do not mention probiotics at all. This also means that the purchased lactic acid bacteria beverage contains only ordinary lactic acid bacteria, which is not related to probiotics.

It is worth noting that lactic acid bacteria are not the same as probiotics. Its main function is to enhance the flavor of the beverage, and it has no health care effect on the intestines and other body parts.

Therefore, when buying dairy products, try to choose fresh milk or yogurt produced by well-known manufacturers to harvest more real health.

Is chocolate with cocoa butter substitutes healthy?

The reason why some people say that it is healthy is mainly because the “cocoa butter” in chocolate has certain benefits for the body’s health (protecting cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health, etc.).

However, if some chocolate is eaten frequently, it is easy to affect your health and even increase the risk of coronary heart disease and other diseases.

Cocoa butter is a natural fat in cocoa beans, mainly composed of triglycerides (98%), free fatty acids, glycol diesters, monoglycerides, tocopherols, phospholipids and other nutrients.

It is precisely because of its existence that chocolate has its unique “pure fragrance + silky” taste. Relatively speaking, the higher the content of cocoa butter, the higher the nutritional value of chocolate.

However, cocoa butter substitutes are not cocoa butter, it is not healthy!

With the development of the food industry, “cocoa butter substitutes” are oil products used to replace natural cocoa butter, which are mainly divided into cocoa butter substitutes and cocoa butter-like products.

Many kinds of chocolates on the market are made of “cocoa butter substitutes”, which can be seen from the list of ingredients.

Although the physical properties of cocoa butter substitute are similar to cocoa butter, it is completely different from cocoa butter in composition. According to the different raw materials of cocoa butter substitute (non-tempering type stearin), it can be divided into lauric acid type stearin. And non-lauric stearin, and these two substances are actually hydrogenated vegetable oils.

Here comes the problem. Hydrogenated vegetable oil contains more trans fatty acids, and the intake of trans fatty acids will increase the body’s risk of chronic diseases such as myocardial infarction and coronary heart disease, posing a greater threat to health.

Of course, for cocoa butter substitutes, relevant standards have strict restrictions on it. GB/T 19343-2016 Chocolate and Chocolate Products, Cocoa Butter Substitute Chocolate and Cocoa Butter Substitute Chocolate Products“clearly stipulates that products with more than 5% cocoa butter substitute (calculated based on the original ingredients) should be named as cocoa butter substitute chocolate.

Therefore, when choosing chocolate, you must pay attention to the name and ingredient list on the food label. It is recommended not to choose “cocoa butter substitute chocolate”. Although it is relatively cheap, it poses a health threat to the body.

It is worth noting that there are many comments on the Internet that are not rigorous in criticizing cocoa butter substitutes. It is not that you will get sick after eating this chocolate once or twice. The first thing to be clear is that the effects and toxicity of any substance should be weighed on the premise of dosage, and the same is true for cocoa butter substitutes.

From a health perspective, it is recommended that you choose dark chocolate with a cocoa content of more than 65% and less sugar. Of course, I also want to remind everyone that you can’t eat more chocolate.

Food is food to safety first

Pay attention to food labels and reject the so-called “healthy foods”. I hope that everyone will not spend wronged money and buy genuine healthy products that are available at a reasonable price.
