You put too much laundry detergent! Most people don’t understand these 8 blind spots

When chatting with my friends recently, I found out that everyone on the surface is an urban beauty, but they basically rely on “mug” to wash clothes behind their backs:

How much laundry detergent puts depends on the feel

I feel dizzy when I look at the laundry shelves, grab a bag and leave

Obviously I wash very frequently, and the laundry detergent is not used less, but the old stains are still looming……

For today’s article, we consulted with the washing product formulators of the top 500 companies, as well as textile professionals, to clarify the 8 most frequently encountered problems when washing clothes!

Will liquid detergent wash more cleanly than powder detergent?

As long as the effective decontamination ingredients are the same, the cleaning power is the same theoretically.

Although different brands have their own formulas, most of the effective decontamination ingredients of laundry products are actually surfactants. The main difference between them is the experience and convenience of use.

Specifically, washing powder is the cheapest, but it has poor solubility at low temperatures and is more likely to remain in winter. Moreover, the damage to the fabric will be relatively large. If you feel a slight heat when washing by hand, it is also because the detergent is often more alkaline and irritates the skin relatively (the surface of the skin is weakly acidic).

In contrast, laundry detergent has better solubility and can easily dissolve under low temperature or hard water washing conditions. There are also many choices. If there is no special need (wool cashmere, sterilization and mites removal, etc.), there is little difference between choosing regular brand products, and you can basically buy them with your eyes closed.

Laundry gel beads are so expensive, is it a waste of money?

The essence of laundry gel beads is a concentrated laundry detergent. The decontamination ingredient “surfactant” content of ordinary laundry detergent is generally 15%, and the remaining part is mainly water. Some concentrated laundry detergents can reach 30-40% surface activity. The surface activity content of laundry gel beads is often up to 80~90%.

So, don’t look at the small laundry beads, it is really no problem to wash a bucket of clothes.

The main problem with laundry beads is actually: expensive. Taking into account the portable design and softer fragrance formula, the production cost of laundry gel beads is relatively high. But it’s really convenient to use. You don’t need to look at the bottle cap scale, one at a time, and the outer packaging film will dissolve by itself. Don’t worry about spilling it when you travel.

I usually use laundry detergent/powder at home and use laundry beads when I go out. The price is reasonable~

Does the special lotion for underwear really work?

Whether it is underwear detergent or underwear soap, wearing the keyword “underwear” does not mean that it is particularly suitable for removing blood stains, but that their formula tends to be milder.

Many people are accustomed to hand-washing underwear, and underwear is generally thin. Therefore, the formulation of most underwear cleaning products should be designed with less skin irritation and less damage to the fabric under the premise of ensuring the washing effect as much as possible.

Why is blood stains so hard to wash?

Blood stains are stubborn stains. Compared with all kinds of magic detergents, a more reliable (and economical) way is to wash them in time! Once overnight, the blood stains dry up and become more difficult.

The correct approach is to immerse in cold water after discovering blood stains on the clothes, apply some enzyme-containing detergent to the blood stains and leave it for a while. The protease in the detergent will break down some of the protein in the blood to make the stain easier to remove, and then wash it normally.

Remember not to soak bloody clothes in hot water, because protein will denature under hot water conditions, condense inside the fiber, and easily bond with fibers such as cotton and wool, so it needs to be soaked and rubbed for a longer time.

How to judge whether to put more or less detergent?

Remember to look at the scale on the bottle cap! It is best to follow the instructions on the package and use a little less.

The washing effect of detergents also has a ceiling, not the more the better, blindly pursuing high-concentration detergents will not only damage the fabrics, but insufficient rinsing will also leave residues on the surface of the clothes, which may cause skin problems.

After washing a whole basket of clothes, the stain is still there? Actually, it’s not because the laundry detergent is not enough. To deal with stains, targeted treatment will be more effective than adding more laundry detergent.

In addition to the blood stain treatment mentioned above, enzymatic laundry detergent can be used for oil stains or meals. The protease or lipase added in this type of detergent can better break down the protein and fat components in the oil and gravy.

If you encounter sweat stains on your neck, neckline or cuffs, you can try using special color bleaching powder and washing machine tank cleaner (unexpectedly!) soak it in hot water and try it, remember to wear gloves.

How to judge that there is residue? Can the quick wash mode be rinsed?

You can observe during the last rinsing. If there is still a lot of foam in the washing machine, or if the clothes feel visibly slippery before drying, it is likely that there is residue. If you are not worried, you can re-rinse.

The quick wash mode does require less liquid detergent than the normal mode. In the case of shortened washing time, expecting the same amount of detergent to wash 6 or 7 pieces of clothing will put unnecessary pressure on the quick wash mode.

After putting laundry detergent, is it necessary to put disinfectant?

Sterilizing ingredients are added to laundry detergent, but it is not realistic to expect it to “kill”: sterilization takes a long time, and washing clothes for a short period of time can only “wash away” some of the bacteria.

If you want to increase the strength of sterilization and disinfection, you can use it together with the sterilization liquid for clothes.

But pay special attention to that 84 disinfectant and quaternary ammonium salt disinfectant products cannot be added together with laundry detergent.

Quaternary ammonium salt disinfection products exhibit cationic characteristics and will react with the anionic surfactant in the laundry detergent, which will not only invalidate the detergent ingredients, but also greatly reduce the sterilization effect.

As a bleaching agent, 84 cannot be used for colored clothes. Its strong oxidizing property will also affect the ingredients in the detergent and affect the washing effect.

The principle of the mite-removing laundry detergent is the same, it relies on “washing away” the mites. This kind of care products that come into contact with the human body cannot be formulated with insecticides.

If you want to completely eliminate mites, you have to rely on the two-pronged approach of “high temperature + slapping”. Instead of buying a mite-removing laundry detergent, let the clothes get more exposure to the sun.

Doesn’t contain optical brightener, is it more worth buying?

Fluorescent brighteners are needed for laundry, just like the food industry needs preservatives, so you don’t have to worry too much about choosing a regular brand.

When the clothes turn yellow, the fluorescent whitening agent will absorb ultraviolet light and emit blue wavelength light, and combine with yellow light (complementary color light) to produce white light, making the clothes look whiter, and if there is a color pattern contrast, it will look more vivid .

Moreover, the national standard also has strict regulations on the amount of fluorescent whitening agent added in washing products, and you do not need to worry about this problem when choosing products from regular manufacturers.

In principle, the amount of fluorescent whitening agent itself that migrates to the skin through clothes is very small, and it can all be excreted. Deliberately stressing that there is no addition, but an unnecessary gimmick.

Final summary

➊ There is no difference in decontamination ability of washing powder, washing liquid, and washing gel beads, and they are the same when the content of active ingredients is similar;

➋ But the lauatter two will be better. The concentrated version can wash a large bowl of clothes without a lot of water;

➌ Don’t expect underwear cleaner to solve overnight blood stains. The best way to deal with blood stains is to soak in enzyme detergent and cold water in time;

➍ Most people tend to put more laundry detergent, it is better to put a little less according to the product packaging recommendations;

➎ The bactericidal and mite-removing ability of laundry detergent mainly depends on “washing”. Combining with the anti-bacterial liquid for clothes can improve the bactericidal ability, but it cannot be used with 84 and quaternary ammonium salts;

➏ Detergents without fluorescent bleach are gimmicks, so you don’t have to worry about this problem if you buy regular brands.
