This week, the new Huawei Mate40 series mobile phones were released officially. However, the new generation of folding screen mobile phones that many users were looking forward to at this event did not appear. Of course, given the current situation, this is not surprising.
There has been news for a long time that although Huawei’s foldable screen phones used to fold outwards in the past, Huawei is developing a folding screen that folds inwards now.
According to news, in April this year, Huawei applied for a design patent from the State Intellectual Property Office. This patent was issued on October 23, 2020 and contains 14 design images of Huawei’s folding screen mobile phone.
According to the patent schematic diagram, the folding screen mobile phone adopts an inward folding scheme, which is similar to the previous flip phone design. The scheme must be familiar to everyone.
When fully unfolded, this phone presents a state similar to an ordinary smart phone; and when it is folded, you can see a large-sized secondary screen and two cameras. Compared with other similar designed folding screen phones, the phone has a larger secondary screen size, which makes it easier to display incoming calls, notifications and other content.
It is visible when the screen is fully unfolded, and there is no perforation or groove on the front screen, which is a complete full screen design. Based on this, it is speculated that the solution should be an under-screen camera solution. It also indicates that the design will need to wait for a while to be applied.
Of course, such a design does not rule out the possibility that Huawei cancels the built-in camera for it directly, and only supports selfies through an external camera module and secondary screen.
In addition, physical volume and power buttons can be seen on both sides of the phone body. When the phone is fully unfolded, the hinge can be well hidden in the phone case. But the design drawing does not show the design of the charging socket, microphone and speaker in detail in detail.
However, it is not the first time that Huawei’s folding screen mobile phone design patents have been exposed. As for whether it will be used in mass production in the future, it still needs to be evaluated by Huawei.
