Brush your teeth every day, why do you still have cavities?

There must be such a sentence in the top 10 question often asked by dentists:

“Doctor, I brush my teeth every day (I don’t like sugar). Why do I have cavities?”

Yeah, why? You know, teeth are the hardest and wear-resistant part of the body. How can they decay?

Every drop of water wears away the stone. In fact, there has been no shortage of examples around us, including tooth decay.

There are countless bacteria in our mouths. At present, there are more than 700 kinds of names.

There are several kinds of bacteria in a large number, which will digest the leftover food residues in the mouth into acidic substances. After the bacteria grow into a large area, they will accumulate these acids on the surface of the teeth, causing tooth demineralization.

After demineralization to a certain extent, a hole is gradually corroded on the surface of the teeth, which forms tooth decay.

Therefore, the occurrence of tooth decay needs to meet four factors at the same time, one of which is indispensable:

➊ you have to have teeth

➋ bacteria on teeth

➌ and food residues

➍ it takes a long time

If we want to fight tooth decay, it’s actually very simple. Just remove any of these four elements.

First, you can pull out all your teeth, so you can completely get rid of the problem of tooth decay. Obviously, this road won’t work.

Second, you can kill all the bacteria in your mouth, so that even if you don’t brush your teeth, you won’t get cavities.

This is also impossible. The oral cavity is an open environment and can not be sterile.

However, we can try to reduce the number of bacteria, so that the bacteria will not be so powerful. The destructive power of a small group of enemy troops is always smaller than that of a large army.

Therefore, to brush your teeth, floss your teeth and rinse your mouth, all of which are aimed at removing bacteria.

However, if you brush your teeth in the wrong way, don’t floss, think the mouthwash is too hot, and make mistakes at every step, there will always be some dead corners that haven’t been cleaned up, and bacteria will grow and cause tooth decay.

Third, if people can not eat, they may not have tooth decay.

Why not say no sugar? Because it is not only sugar that causes tooth decay, but bacteria eat sugar and produce acid, which corrodes the teeth. Bacteria are not picky eaters. As long as there is food residue in their mouth, they will “eat it quickly”.

Obviously, this is unlikely to be done, but we can pay attention to these points: rinse your mouth after eating, drink less sweet drinks and drink more water.

However, how many people have done this by gargling in time after eating?

Finally, control time.

There are bacteria and food residues in the mouth, but as long as the time is not long, it will not cause irreversible damage to the teeth.

Therefore, we should brush our teeth every morning and evening, and wash the bacteria once every 12 hours, so as not to give them time to reproduce and develop.

Recall, is there a time when you don’t brush your teeth because you’re too lazy? Or, after brushing your teeth, steal a bite of supper and go to bed pretending nothing happened?

Although teeth are the hardest part of the body, they also need to be well protected.

In addition, if you have decayed teeth, you can’t control its continuous development only by brushing your teeth. It is recommended to go to the hospital to fill your teeth in time and have an oral examination every year.

Otherwise, if more and more cavities are allowed, the final treatment will not be as simple as filling teeth

I see. The human body is so wonderful ~
